Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions

We understand that not everyone has the time to get to our dental office or make a call if they have a question. To help you learn more about the services we offer and additional details about our dental office, we’ve created a list of a few of the most common questions our dentists hear.

How Often Should I Visit the Dentist Each Year?

To maintain long-term oral health and prevent dental disease, patients should be visiting the dentist at least once every six months. This allows us to not only remove harmful plaque and tartar but prevent these substances from causing damage to your essential oral structures.

What Should I Do During a Dental Emergency?

No matter how minor or severe your dental emergency is, start by calling our dental office to schedule an appointment. Chances are likely that we can not only see you the same day as your emergency but provide treatment that removes your discomfort and protects your tooth. It’s also worth checking our emergency dentistry page for more information.

Can I Join My Child During Their Treatment?

Absolutely! If your child doesn’t want to leave you during their treatment, parents are welcome to be by there side as they receive care. If it’s your child’s first dental appointment, we welcome parents to sit in the dental chair and keep their child on their lap to make them more comfortable.

Do You Offer Orthodontic Services?

Yes! Our dental office provides orthodontic services in order to resolve a wide variety of dental issues. We offer both traditional braces and Invisalign clear aligners depending on your needs. Starting early is always the better option for your child, as their mouths are still developing at a younger age.

What Insurance Do You Take?

Not only is our dental office in-network with most PPO dental plans, but we also accept Medicaid plans specifically intended for children. However, you may also be interested in our in-house membership plan or our financing programs like CareCredit if you do not have any dental insurance.

When Should My Child See the Dentist?

As a general rule of thumb, we recommend that you bring your child in for their first visit within six months of their first tooth erupting or by their first birthday. Most of this visit will be catered towards informing you of best at-home practices and relevant treatments, rather than extensive exams or cleanings.

Can You Make My Family Members More Comfortable?

Comfort is always a high priority at La Prada Family Dentistry of Garland. While we offer nitrous oxide sedation to help patients feel more relaxed, our newly renovated dental offices are fully equipped with televisions to help distract you during your treatment.
