Meet Dr. Jay Patel
Dr. Jay Patel’s goal with each patient is to make their journey toward a straight and healthy smile as smooth as possible. Nothing makes him happier than getting to know someone and using his skills to transform their teeth and boost their confidence at the same time. Whether for yourself or your child, he can’t wait for you to pay him a visit, and you can learn a little more about his background below.
Why Did You Decide to Become an Orthodontist?
From an early age, Dr. Patel had a passion for the sciences and helping people. Throughout high school and college, he regularly shadowed in hospitals and dental offices, and he also worked as a pharmacy technician. Dentistry seemed like the perfect way to combine his interests into a rewarding career, and he ultimately chose to specialize in orthodontics thanks to the great experience he had with his own orthodontist growing up.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After completing his undergraduate education at the University of North Texas, Dr. Patel earned his dental degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, graduating with the highest honors and distinctions in both dental education and research. He then obtained his Certificate in Orthodontics as well as a Master of Science in Oral Biology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident. He became board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2020.
These days, he works hard to stay on top of the latest breakthroughs in the dental field through his memberships in the:

- American Academy of Orthodontists
Outside of the Dental Office,
Dr. Patel is the youngest of four children with three older sisters. He’s proud to be a first-generation American, and in his off time, he likes to play sports such as football, basketball, and volleyball as well as cheer on the Cowboys, Mavs, and Rangers. He also has a musical side and has played Indian and American drums since he was five. Whenever he can, he tries to travel because he deeply enjoys exploring new places and cultures.
